Abstract
Description
In this paper the use of banana hate as biomass for the production of products such as bioethanol and bioplastic was proposed. As a first step a proximal analysis of the raw material was performed, resulting in the banana has a content of about 65% carbohydrate. Obtaining bioplastic was successful, achieving obtain biofilms weighting 7 grams and 0.1 millimetres per 25 grams of shell used. Two batch fermentations were carried out, one with free cells and the other with cell immobilisation, over a period of 24 hours with cerevisiae yeast Saccharomyces, having a concentration of 57 g/l of reducing sugars from the substrate. Fermentation kinetics were similar for both fermentations and maximum ethanol production values 9.21 to 8.55 and free and immobilised cells, respectively.
